Socknet Providers as OpenID Providers

From The Socknet

Some Socknet providers will also want to act as OpenID providers. In fact, this is encouraged in order to increase ease of use.

However, it is against the spirit of the Socknet to require Socknet users to use a specific OpenID provider (eg, your own OpenID provider). That is, users who use other OpenID providers must be able to use a Socknet provider just like the users who use the same provider.

There is very little to be gained from requiring users to use the same service, except for user lock-in. The community frowns on that.

When changing Socknet providers, if the original Socknet provider is also the user's OpenID provider, it is OK to require the user to choose a new OpenID provider.
