From The Socknet
The open source software running foolishmortal.org has gone Beta!
What this means:
- Firstly, this means that the software supports all the functions required by the Socknet protocol and there won't be major changes to the API.
- Second, it means that the software has a strong foundation so that it will be simpler to divide tasks going forward and many people can contribute. We have a list of planned upgrades at https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=322860&atid=1356533.
- Finally, it means that the Socknet as a whole has something tangible to work with. This cornerstone can help as we try to draw attention and encourage websites to participate.
What it doesn't mean:
- This doesn't mean that the software is complete. To declare this Beta, we only wanted to achieve the main goal: producing a software package that acts appropriately as a Socknet Profile Provider.
- It doesn't mean that the code won't change. If you decide to build on this codebase, you'll need to be careful when downloading updates. And hey, let us know what great things you're doing. Maybe we can incorporate them.
